About Us

The Hand and Upper Extremity Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center provides comprehensive care including diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation all in one convenient location.  Our comprehensive program and interdisciplinary approach brings together physicians and clinicians associated with orthopaedic and plastic surgery, neurology, anesthesiology, and occupational therapy.  These professionals work as a patient-care team to monitor the patient's progress and coordinate care for their hand, wrist, and upper extremity.

At our innovative Hand and Upper Extremity Center, we are experienced in returning patients to maximum functionality and quality lifestyle.  Patients and families choose our services for many reasons.

  • Our experienced hand surgeons performed more than 3500 surgeries last year.
  • Most diagnostic testing, treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation services are conveniently performed in one location.
  • Our team includes occupational therapists with special training and certification in hand and upper extremity care.
  • Our surgeons can perform minimally invasive(endoscopic) carpal tunnel surgery, which uses a smaller incision and can result in a faster recovery.
  • As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we have hand surgeons available to treat all levels of traumatic hand and upper extremity injuries.
